Needs and challenges

Our client, a Japanese research institute on consumer trends, was considering introducing implanted electronic medical devices to Japan. They were in need of analyses and knowledge about not only consumer needs for the product, but also its safety and effectiveness as a medical device.

Details of our support

Quantitative and qualitative research in the U.S. and supplying multifaceted analyses and knowledge.

We conducted research on the possible impact of introducing implanted electronic medical devices in Japan. Our research encompassed a variety of perspectives such as safety, privacy and legal issues. We carried out quantitative research in the U.S., where these devices are already introduced, on the recognition of such devices and the intentions behind their usage, and conducted a case study of their introduction. We also interviewed specialists, doctors and manufacturers to find out the pros and cons from various angles and made proposals on domestic sales.
